Welcome to Blandine Cummins Counselling

Helping you to help yourself

A BIT ABOUT ME

Welcome, my name is Blandine Cummins and I am a Qualified Level 4 CPCAB counsellor based in Jersey. I offer online sessions in English or French as well as face to face counselling support.

As far back as I can remember, I’ve been very curious about how other people see the world. As a young person, I started by immersing myself in music and writing songs to better understand the thoughts, emotions and reactions of others. Later on I studied psychology and counselling which helped me understand myself better.

I have always been fascinated by the possibility that the awareness of the differences between people may be a way to unite us, instead of pulling us apart. I realised that my journey towards self-awareness and acceptance of my own differences could have benefits for, as well as satisfying my curiosity about, other people.

Being a therapist is a way for me to fulfil my own need to experience safe and authentic relationships with others, whilst at the same time supporting them in their search for happiness.

HOW CAN COUNSELLING HELP?

As a counsellor my role is to provide space and guidance to help you on your journey of self-discovery; to enable you to examine your life and make new, meaningful choices within it.

In my Counselling practice, I can help you in the following areas:

  • Loss and bereavement
  • Issues linked to relationships or divorce
  • Self-esteem and confidence
  • Sadness
  • Depression
  • Loneliness
  • Anxiety
  • Mental health
  • Stress
  • Work or study

These are just some of the things I can work through with you, but I can support you with whatever you are finding difficult.

Counselling isn't about giving you solutions or advice, but empowering you to make your own choices.

"Life is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths." (Scott Peck)

Making that decision to start counselling is often a daunting one. The fact you are looking at this site means that you are at least ready to consider whether it is the right path for you.

Ultimately, it can provide the opportunity to enrich your relationships; both with those you care about and, most importantly, with yourself.

HOW I WORK

I am a person centred therapist, which means I have an empathetic, non-judgemental approach and provide emotional support. I offer a chance to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment, with someone from outside your day-to-day life.

Both short term and open-ended therapy is available depending on your needs. I like to be as flexible as possible to allow you to find your own personal requirement. Therefore, I do not insist on a weekly commitment or on any set number of sessions.

Counselling Support for Expatriates / Cross-Cultural living

Living in or moving to another country can bring a wide range of emotional and practical challenges. While it can be a rich and meaningful experience, it may also involve feelings of isolation, culture shock, and emotional adjustment. Clients may find themselves navigating differences in language, communication styles, food, traditions, and religious or cultural values. These changes can sometimes create a sense of disconnection, from others and from oneself. For those not fully fluent in the local language, or unfamiliar with cultural norms, this process can sometimes intensify feelings of vulnerability, frustration, or loneliness. I offer a safe and supportive space to explore these experiences at your own pace. Together, we can make sense of what it means to live between cultures, to experience transition, and to rebuild a sense of belonging and grounding in a new environment. My approach is rooted in empathy and respect for each person’s lived experience.

WHAT CAN WE ACHIEVE

Together we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives and perhaps a new understanding of yourself.

Counselling offers a confidential and safe space, where you can openly explore your feelings without the risk of being

judged. It offers the opportunity for you to look at what is really going on in your life and to help make sense of any confusion or turmoil you may be experiencing. It provides a space where unhelpful behaviour patterns can be safely challenged and potentially changed to gain a deeper sense of freedom and control over your life.
